A growing app that many people couldn't use

Our client is a US-based healthcare company that breaks down barriers to mental wellbeing. They combine tech-powered tools, personalized coaching and therapy, tailored to each person’s needs.
As the business grew, reaching new and diverse customers became crucial. But the app wasn’t accessible to many potential users, including people with disabilities. That created ethical and legal concerns, limited market reach and held back inclusivity.

Audit first, then fix by impact

We ran an accessibility audit with the Deque Axe tool, built a prioritized task list, and worked through it in order of impact.

    01

    Screen-reader optimization

We added proper labels and made every input work with different input methods. We fixed contrast and readability issues for users with conditions like color blindness. We used semantic HTML

    					 <a> for links, <button> for
buttons), added role and aria-level attributes to clarify structure, and gave every
image and icon alt text or captions. Content stays fully visible at up to 400% zoom, and
dropdowns announce position (for example, “Option 1 of 5”).

    02

    Text-to-speech support

We overhauled the frontend with semantically correct markup and clear main and subheadings, so text-to-speech users can move through the app with ease.

    03

    Keyboard navigation

For users with motor impairments, we set logical focus orders and clear focus targets, making the whole app operable by keyboard.

    04

    Accessible PDFs

We rebuilt every generated PDF to meet WCAG and UAAG standards, with better contrast, keyboard navigation and text-to-speech compatibility

An app every user can engage with

Incubyte treated accessibility as a business driver and designed for the needs of diverse users.
    • Visual impairment: intuitive navigation means every user, whatever their visual acuity, can use the platform.
    • Hearing impairment: video transcripts, image alt text and short summaries of audio content.
    • Physical disabilities: robust keyboard navigation, so users can work with a variety of input methods.
    • Conformance: WCAG 2.1 A and AA conformance levels achieved.
